His Majesty King Vajiravudh (Rama VI) graciously presided over the official opening ceremony of Chulalongkorn Hospital on 30 May B.E. 2487 (1944). At that time, the X-ray machines used gas-filled tubes (“gas tube” type) and were installed in operating rooms.
Major Sakdapolrak (Lek Thammasaroj) had the honor of taking X-ray photographs of the king and also participated in the hospital’s opening ceremony.

Professor Emeritus Dr. Romsai Suwanik established the Nuclear Medicine Unit within the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital for diagnosis, treatment, and research, the first unit of its kind in Thailand. It utilized Radioiodine for the diagnosis of thyroid diseases and the treatment of hyperthyroidism and differentiated thyroid cancer, Radiogold for the treatment of metastatic cancer, and Radiophosphorous for the treatment of blood disorders such as leukemia and polycythemia vera.

The Nuclear Medicine Unit (formerly known as the Isotope Unit) was established in June by Associate Professor Dr. Taweep Nopparat, who served as the Head of the Unit, with Associate Professor Dr. Wichai Posayajinda serving as an assistant.
The unit developed various operations, such as procurement of necessary equipment for evaluating thyroid gland function, treating toxic goiter (hyperthyroidism), and treating pleural effusion (fluid in the lungs).

Prof. Emeritus Dr. Suttisak Suthipongchai, in collaboration with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Worawut Janyavanich, a neurosurgeon, created an experimental A-V fistula in a dog lab for testing purposes.
This involved the experimental use of a detachable balloon before its actual clinical application in treating carotid-cavernous fistula and performing vessel sacrifice in human patients.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Royal College of Radiologists of Thailand, in collaboration with Jf Advance Med Co., Ltd., established the “RadioVolunteer” project to interpret chest X-ray images for inmates in correctional institutions and the underprivileged. Assist. Prof. Dr. Nitra Piyavisetpat served as the project leader.

There were independent elections of the President of the Royal College, the President of the Radiological Society, and the executive committees of both organizations. Prof. Dr. Jiraporn Laothamatas served as the President of the Radiological Society of Thailand and the Royal College of Radiologists of Thailand. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chantima Euatrongjit served as Vice President and Deputy Chairperson, and Dr. Linda Brown served as the final Secretary-General under the old system. Dr. Chamaree Chuapetcharasopon (term 2015–2018) served as the President of the Radiological Society of Thailand, with Assoc. Prof. Chawalit Wong-ek serving as Vice President, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wiwatana Tanomkiat serving as Secretary-General.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anchalee Churoj (term 2017–2020) served as the President of the Royal College of Radiologists with Assist. Prof. Jaturon Tantivatana serving as Vice President, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Komkrit Tanisaro serving as Secretary-General under the new system.
